Obituary for Susan Glynn Peacock

Susan Glynn Peacock, 71, of Floyds Knobs, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peacock, and her parents, Lola K. Hill (T.J.) and Charles M. Marx.

She is survived by her children Anne Fuller (Christopher); Chris Schremser (Tara); Karen Scott (Chris); and Brandy Sanderfer (Brian); 11 beautiful and talented grandchildren; a brother, Charles Marx (Karen), and three sisters, Carolyn West (Steve), Bonnie Marx, and Cathleen Morris (Rick).

Susan was a native of Louisville and a graduate of Lorretto High School, University of Louisville (BA) (MEd), and University of Kentucky (MS). She was passionate about teaching and enjoyed a fulfilling career in education, many of her years spent at Shawnee, Central, and Butler high schools as a teacher. After retiring from teaching, her passion for nutrition led her to an accomplished second career as an instructor at the University of Louisville in the College of Education and Human Development, Department of Health Sport Sciences. Family and friends enriched Susan’s life. She was blessed with four fabulous children and their families. Special friends included the Willow Avenue group, her treasured golfing buddies, fellow Louisville sports enthusiasts, and many friends across Louisville and beyond. Nutrition became especially important for Susan after she received her MS in Nutritional Sciences with an Emphasis in Sports and Wellness Nutrition in 2005. She served on the Executive Committee, Faculty Senate, and was Chair of the part-time Faculty Committee at the University of Louisville. Additionally, she served on both the Committee on Committees and Credentials and the Human Resources Advisory Committee. She was a contributing author to the American College of Sports Medicine’s Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription 7th edition, Chapter 15: Assessment of Nutritional Status. Susan’s other loves included reading, writing, cheering on the Cards, traveling, golfing, sharing good wine and conversation with good people, and relaxing with her family and friends on Pawleys Island each summer.

Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Highlands.
