Obituary for Margaret B. "Maggie" Thompson

Margaret B. "Maggie" Thompson
THOMPSON, Margaret B. "Maggie",

95, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, November 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born a farm girl in Union County, Kentucky, she saw much: The Great Depression, WWII, television, the computer, and the death 22 years ago of her beloved husband, Tommy.

Maggie spent most of her adult life as a bookkeeper and income tax preparer, a calling that dovetailed nicely with her quick mathematical mind.

She is survived by her favorite daughter, Linda T. Slye and son, Bill Thompson (Carol); 4 grandchildren; one great grandchild and a younger sister.

Maggie loved family, yard sales, the horses, and collecting spoons, eyewash cups, aprons, miniature boxes and glass paperweights. A true child of the Depression, her picture appears in Webster's Dictionary next to "Value Shopper".

While Maggie outlived most of her contemporaries, she never seemed to mind "hanging" with younger folks. Always willing to try new adventures, she'll be sorely missed by those who must live without her.

Visitation will be 12:30pm-2:30pm Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with a service to follow at 2:30pm. There will be a private interment in Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus of Louisville or a Veterans organization of your choice.
