RUSSELL, Barbara, 69, of Louisville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 18, 2016, with her loving family by her side.

Barbara was an inspiration to all who knew her, from dealing with polio at the age of 8, to fighting courageously through 13 years of cancer. She never let her adversities hold her back, overcoming them to lead a full and wonderful life. Barbara loved to travel, visiting every state but four and even Europe. Having never met a stranger, she was always the life of the party and always had a good story to tell. She enjoyed a long career as a finance and real estate manager and being a member of Valley View Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Truman Harley.

She is survived by her mother, Ada (Nation) Harley; sister, Wanda Pharris (Bill); brother, Walter “Bruce” Harley (Malory); nieces and nephews, Heather Schrecker (Mike), Neil Pharris (Kim), Creighton Harley, and Madison Harley; and great nieces, Morgan Pharris, Olivia Schrecker, Addison Schrecker, and Hadley Pharris. Barbara is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday 2-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home 3331 Taylorsville Road. Her service will be Wednesday 11am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
