HUELSMAN, Edwin Gregory, 94, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home.
Ed was born in Louisville to Edwin J. and Ruth Huelsman. He graduated from St. Xavier High School and went on to serve his country in the army during WWII. Upon returning from the war he was employed at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company where he stayed until his retirement. Ed was a founding member of Ascension of the Lord parish. He was a member of the "50 something" club at Ascension and the 50 year club at St. Xavier. He was also a member of American Legion Highland Post #201.
Ed married Mary Josepine McAuliffe, who passed in 2007and together they had six children: Edwin “Greg” Huelsman, Jr. (Bev), Alan Huelsman, Pam Huelsman, Bruce Huelsman (Rhonda), Diane Brohman (Bruce), and Carol (Marc Sangiuliano). Ed is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Roland (Shirley).
Ed's celebration of life will take place at Ascension Church on Thursday, April 28th at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
