Obituary for June Morton

June Morton
MORTON, June Rose (Koenig), 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She entered Heaven on August 27, 2015 through those Pearly Gates.
June was born to the late Peter and Marie Koenig in Louisville, KY on June 7, 1928. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Morton; brother, Peter M. Koenig; and sister, Bernice Reesor.
Left to cherish loving memories of June are her children, Raymond Walker (Betty), Tanis Walker (Kenny Gray) and Terry Walker (Lisa Sprauer); sweet sister, Elsie Logsdon; 7 grandchildren, Carrie Shinkle (Curt), Justin Walker (Anne), Bradley Walker (Sarah), Jonathan Walker, Lauren Walker, Courtney Walker, T.J. Walker and Allison Ferguson; and 5 great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, Rory, Sylvia and Isabella. She also held dear her sister-in-law, Judy Koenig, and nephews, Phillip Koenig and Wayne Bishop, and many other special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
June is also survived by her very special friend and caregiver whom she loved dearly, Victoria Judd. Victoria was at June’s side whenever she needed her, and our family is forever grateful to Victoria for her love, special care, and friendship.
Her career spanned many years working for her family’s business, Koenig Brothers. In addition, she was the owner of the Clock Shop and was co-founder of Pete Koenig Co., retiring in 1985. June was loved and respected by all with whom she worked.
Her favorite pastime was watching UofL Cardinal basketball. She and her late husband John traveled extensively to watch their Cards play. June enjoyed playing cards, was an expert Bingo player, and was an accomplished chef, frequently cooking gourmet dinners for friends and family.
June appreciated the many years of spiritual well-being provided by St. Leonard Catholic Church.
June dearly loved her Episcopal Church Home family. Her family would like to thank ECH for their love and care. Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Roy Meckler, Dr. Jane Cornett, and Angie Ethridge, A.P.R.N.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm on Sunday at Highlands.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or donor’s charity of choice.
And as June would always say…”Go Cards!"
