Rose Mari Mudd age 95, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on October 30, 1919; the daughter of Italian immigrants Mariano and Rosa Cola Mari from Cerruto d' Esi Ancona; she was the youngest of eight. At the age of 17, she met and married her husband Lawrence, and they were married for 65 years and resided in Louisville, Kentucky.

Rose most enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother and sharing her love of cooking with family. In the spirit of Italian hospitality, she welcomed family and friends to her Sunday dinners and loved squeezing them into her tiny kitchen. She nurtured her family through her love of cooking and time spent together around the table. Rose delighted in traveling to Italy in 1994 to meet her Italian cousins for the first time.

A homemaker most of her life, she also worked at Codispoti's Italian Restaurant and St Joseph's Infirmary. She is a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Church were she was active in the Rosary Club, and a member of Holy Family Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mariano and Rosa Cola Mari, husband Lawrence, her seven siblings, Elizabeth, Josephine, Angelo, Arnesto, Ernest, Ginno, Albert, and grandson Nicky Mudd. Rose is survived by her four children, Lawrence R. Mudd, MD (Kathy), Louisville, Mariana Mudd of Evansville, Indiana, Jerome D. Mudd, and Antonia M. Mudd (Helen Heddens) of Louisville.

Affectionately called Grandma Rose and Granny, she will be lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Foods that she loved to prepare for her grandchildren were her chicken and dumplings, chicken penne and spaghetti and meatballs.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Jefferson Manor for the care and support Rose received over the past three years, especially the staff on the blue unit.
