Mary Smith (Allred)
SMITH,
Mary K., 89, passed peacefully March 27. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Smith, parents James Paul and Agnes Gause Allred, her brother J.P. Allred, son Albert E. Steidle, and stepdaughter Lissa M. Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Linda Sparrow and her husband Rick, her beloved granddaughters Natalie and Madeline Miller, her stepson Lane Smith, a niece and three nephews.
Mary Kay moved to Louisville in her early teens and graduated from the Atherton School for Girls. She lived off Dundee Road and enjoyed the Lakeside Club as a girl. She attended the University of Louisville and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She married Albert Steidle after college and raised two children.
Mary Kay married Kenny Smith in 1974. They moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1980 where they enjoyed retirement, golf, and many cherished friendships. Upon Kenny’s illness and subsequent death, Mary Kay moved back to Louisville where she became active in pet therapy with WAGS. She and her poodle, Magoo, visited nursing homes, hospitals and homeless shelters. Mary Kay worked to help others all her life, working with Down Syndrome children and helping childrens organizations in Ft. Myers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy to:
