Obituary for Linda Swanson Dolen (Swanson)
Linda Swanson Dolen, 64, of Louisville, KY, entered into life eternal on March 23, 2018, to the God she loved and served. She was a bold witness for her Savior even in the face of her own battles with arthritis and terminal cancer. She was a member of St. Matthews UMC and attended First UMC of Murray (KY)when visiting her lake home.
Born to Paul and Mary Swanson on May 25, 1953 in Lexington, KY, Linda spent her childhood and college years in Erlanger, Ky. She graduated from Lloyd High School, Northern KY University and attended Xavier University. Graduate and post- grad work was done at the University of Louisville. Inspired by her first grade teacher, Linda taught Kindergarten and Primary grades and was a reading specialist in Kenton and Jefferson Counties for 28 years.
Following retirement , Linda and Joe, her husband of 40 years, split their time between Louisville and "Sundown", their home on Kentucky Lake. In both places, they were blessed with a host of Christian, loving friends.
Surviving Linda is her husband, confidante and best friend, Joe. He was loved beyond measure and that love was returned. Also surviving are her son, Brent, daughter-in-law Rosmond, two precious granddaughters, Ellery and Willa, her parents Paul and Mary Swanson, and her sister, Emily Markey.
A celebration of life service will be held on TBD at St. Matthews UMC at TBD. There will be no visitation and a private burial will be for the immediate family.
Thanks to Dr. Patrick Williams and the staff at the Norton Cancer Institute for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Matthews UMC or the American Cancer Society.
Service is Wednesday 03/28; visitation from 9-11 am; memorial service at 11 am
