Condolences

Condolence From: Robert Stevenson
Condolence: I played football with Witt for 4 years at Tech. We were in the same freshman class together so I got to know him well. He was a great ballplayer and an even better teammate. He was full of life ... always smiling and cutting up. It was never a dull moment when Witt was around. I know he will be missed. My condolences to the wonderful family he leaves behind. Rest in peace #37.

Condolence: Dear Beth, Amanda and Whitney,
The first time we met Witt was in 1982 at the old U of L Football stadium. Sitting 10 rows up from the opposing team’s bench, my husband, Steve and Witt became fast friends. Our sons started calling Witt “Cookie Monster” because of his deep voice and love of all that is good. He was a tough football player, but a tender man.

The last time we saw Witt was at the new Papa John’s Stadium before a game. He grilled for everyone, while Scottish music blared from his tailgate. Still sharing all that is good 33 years later.

Witt leaves a legacy of compassion, resilience, determination, integrity and love of all that is good; especially Beth and his children.

Memories of our moments with Witt will always bring a smile. Godspeed, Witt

Steve & Wendy Haywood
