Obituary for James " M. "Jim" McDonnell
MCDONNELL,
James "Jim" M., 72, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Louisville. Jim worked for Liberty National Bank and Bank One from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. He was the past-President of Liberty National Bank, Central KY from 1988 until 1999. He served on AAA’s board from 1991 until present day and was currently the Chairman of the Board of AAA of Kentucky. He enjoyed boating with his family and will always be remembered by his grandchildren as the best boat driver ever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Alice McDonnell.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, the former Linda Shircliff; son, James P. McDonnell (Mynique); daughter, Julie McDonnell (Steve Klimesh); grandchildren, J. Parker and Mallory McDonnell and Kristen, Connor, and Brady Klimesh; brother, Tom McDonnell (Theresa); and sister, Sue Windmill (Ian).
His funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 2 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Rd. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday and from 12-1 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pitt Academy or the St. Xavier High School Scholarship Fund.
