O’Bryan,
Helen, 97, of Louisville, died Sunday, February, 25, 2018.
Born in Louisville, KY to the late Charles and Hallie Borst, she was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Atherton High School for Girls. She was an active volunteer for many local churches and nursing homes, where she played organ and piano. She was a resident of Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home, where she received excellent care and love during the last 10 years of her life. Helen was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James O’Bryan; daughters, Dorothy Tilton and Angie Hickman; a son, Mike O’Bryan; daughter-in-law, Donna Noon O'Bryan; son-in-law, Charlie Mitchell; her siblings, Mary Elizabeth, Charles, and John Borst; great-grandson, Ryan Mitchell; and great-granddaughter, Tara Tilton.
Helen is survived by her children, Libby Mitchell, Jim O’Bryan (Jo Ann), Sherry Bennett (Don), and Patty Volk (Jeff); daughter-in-law, Donna O’Bryan; sons-in-law, Bobby Tilton and Carlos Hickman; sister, Yvonne True; 34 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 59 great-great-grandchildren. Because two people fell in love, 188 people were blessed with the gift of life.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Thursday, March 1, 2018 at St. Joseph, 1406 E. Washington St, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
