Obituary for Joseph Gerald BOWLING

Joseph Gerald “Geralie” “Jerry”, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
He was born February 18, 1936 in New Hope, KY to the late Webb and Alice Dant Bowling and was the ninth of ten children. He was a graduate of St. Joe Prep in Bardstown and also served in the US Navy. After his service, he worked for Delta Airlines and later pursued ownership in the restaurant business.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Corky Bowling and Bob Bowling; and one sister, Cecilia Kirkpatrick.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Dawson Bowling; three sons, Michael Webster (Nicole), of Bogota, Colombia; Daniel Louis, of Denver, CO; and Matthew Dawson (Ana), of Telluride, CO, all three sons received their degrees from the University of Kentucky of which Jerry was very proud; three grandchildren, Isabella, Mark, and Webb; two brothers, Wally Bowling and Jim Pat Bowling (Jean); four sisters, Frankie Mouser, Lottie Byrd, Joannie O’Bryan, and Allie Kirkpatrick; brother-in-law, Ed “Sonny” Kirkpatrick; sister-in-law, Martha Bowling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church St., New Hope, KY with burial to follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, New Haven, Ky. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
