Anna Sue "Ann" Whitaker, 78, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Baptist East Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was the former Anna Sue Edlin, was born on January 19, 1939 in Lyons, KY and graduated from Hodgenville High School in 1957. She was a faithful public servant and retired from the Metro Louisville Revenue Commission where she worked for 20 years.
Ann was a caring and compassionate soul, beloved by her family and friends. Her quiet example, her concern for others, her sense of humor and her unconditional love for her kids and grandkids will all be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; James M. Burke and Kenneth Whitaker, her parents; Henry Clay Edlin, Jr. and Eloise Edlin (Barnes), her sister, Norma Rae Blair and her brother, Henry Clay Edlin, III.
She is survived by her three children; L. Michael Burke (Mary Ellen), Dennis Burke (Stephanie) and Sharon Burke, five grandchildren; Maria, Christopher, Grace, Aiden and Carey as well as numerous nieces, cousins and other extended family who all loved her.
Ann’s Celebration of Life will be held at 12 PM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
Visitation will be from 2 - 7 PM on Thursday, January 18 and after 10 AM on Friday at Highlands.
