NEWMAN, Marie Shelton,

90, passed away on December 31, 2017. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Sears. She was a member of the St. Matthews Baptist Church and was one of the founders of the Louisville Girls High Alumni Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, embroidery and was a wonderful cook, hosting many family gatherings in her home through the years.

Her husband, Joseph Louie Newman, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Steve Newman (Beverly) of Terre Haute, IN; daughter, Pam Boyd (Ron); four grandchildren, Jeff Boyd, Kristen Ledbetter (Hunter), Andrew Newman, Justin Newman; three great grandchildren, Marie, Lincoln and Lucy Jo and special family friend Mike Ernst.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial gifts to "The Inspiring Women College Gift Fund" at St. Matthew's Baptist Church.
