Age 95, of Louisville passed away December 22, 2017. Clara was the widow of Eugene R. Cruikshank, to whom she was married for 69 years. She was born on July 22, 1922 to the late Carlyle and Nadine (O???Banion) Chamberlain. Clara was loving and charming and cared for others. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, nature, pets, writing, and recording family history. A librarian early in her career, she continued a loved of books by serving as librarian for Douglass Blvd. Christian Church, where she was a member for 63 years.



In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by infant daughter, Gina Gale Cruikshank; her step-mother, Martha Mason Chamberlain; sister, Martha Schmuckie; and her brother, Malcolm Chamberlain.



She is survived by her daughters, Leta Rudy (Thomas), and Heather Cruikshank; one grandson, Ian J. Cruikshank; and niece, Martha Anne Schmuckie (Danny); and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.



A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 2 PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Louisville, KY 40205.



Memorial Visitation will be from 12 - 2 PM on Saturday at Highlands.
