Obituary for Helen Juanita Riehl

Helen Juanita Riehl
Riehl, Helen Juanita,

85, passed away December 25, 2017. Originally from Cumberland, KY, she moved to Louisville over 50 years ago. She converted to Catholicism as a young adult and was a long time member of St. Agnes Parish, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a volunteer for the Bereavement Committee. She also volunteered for many years for Queen’s Daughter and at Sister Visitor Center. She was a proud member of the Creative Home Makers and Red Hat Society. She worked for many years at A&P Grocery Stores, Revlon and American Greeting Cards. She enjoyed reading and sports, and was an avid UK fan and enjoyed spirited discussions about who was the better team with all of her Louisville family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her

parents, Lucy and Ewing Pridemore and a brother, Roger Pridemore.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Marty Riehl; three sons, Greg (Mary Ann), Jim and Scott (Cara); sisters, Audie Gray, Gladys Dunham, Alma Gibson (Jackie), Donna Butler (Harold); a brother, Carl Pridemore; as well as 5 grandchildren: Chris, Michael, Megan, Alec and Aidan; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass will be on

Friday, December 29, at 10 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Rd.

Louisville, KY 40205. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 – 8 PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Louisville, KY 40205.

The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff that cared for her at The Sam Swope Care Center located at The Masonic Homes of KY campus over the past 18 months.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions can be made to Sister Visitor Center, (cclou.org/donate-now/ ), or Saint Xavier High School (saintx.com/donate).
