Obituary for Richard Craig "Dick" Kaelin

Richard “Dick” Kaelin, 69, passed away peacefully early Wednesday November 29th, 2017 after a decade of battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Dick was born on January 29th, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to Paul and Doris Kaelin. He is a veteran of the US Marine Corps. In 1968, he married his forever sweetheart Sharon Ann O’Hara. The couple moved frequently in their early years ending up in Louisville, KY in the early 80’s. Dick was a hardworking businessman who worked for Yum! Brands for 30+ years. Sharon was a Registered Nurse. They retired in 2005 and dedicated their time to family and travel.

Dick was a loving uncle, brother, father, husband and friend. He would never hesitate to take time out of his day to help others in anyway possible. He was as self-less as they come.

Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Brian and Jon; brothers, Mark and Chris; sisters, Tina (Press) and Liba (Miller); and 12 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Doris; brother Jimmy; and son, Richard Jr.

Visitation to celebrate Richards life will be held on Sunday December 3rd at Highlands Funeral Home (3331 Taylorsville Rd.) From 2-5. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer’s Association of Kentucky (www.alz.org/kyin)
