Obituary for Doris Maerkl (McCloskey)

Doris  Maerkl (McCloskey)
Maerkl, Doris Lee,
age 95, of Lexington, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017. Having graduated Shawnee High School in 1940, her and her classmates still gathered monthly until recently. A member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, she was very strong in her faith. Doris was very active in volunteering at the Episcopalian Retirement Home.
She was preceded in death by husband of 62 years, John A. Maerkl; her parents, George and Rose McCloskey; and one brother, Harold McCloskey.
She is survived by her son, John T. Maerkl (Becky); daughter, Denise Newman (Anthony); sister, Martha McIntire; grandchildren, Kevin Maerkl, and Sarah Newman; one great grandchild, Carmen Maerkl.
Her funeral mass will be at 11 AM on Saturday, November 4 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4700 Lowe Rd. Louisville, KY 40220. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville, Rd. Louisville, KY 40205.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4700 Lowe Rd. Louisville, KY 40220.
