Obituary for Theodore ""Ted"" Henle

Theodore ""Ted""  Henle
Theodore Anthony (Ted) Henle, 85, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 17. Ted was born in Louisville to Rose Conley and Theodore Henle on January 7, 1932. He is a graduate of St. Xavier High School where he was a member of the state championship swim team. He was a proud member of Bellarmine College’s first graduating class and member of its basketball team. He had a long career in advertising, starting in print, radio and eventually partnering to start McDevitt, Henle, Koetter Advertising Agency (The Viamarc Group). He was a member of many clubs and organizations including SME, where he received Executive of the Year in 1981. He served many organizations including Boys Haven, St. Joseph Children’s Home, a founding member of the Links Foundation and the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend and his love for all was an infectious part of his personality. He had many interests such as tennis and golf, but his true passion was teaching swimming lessons at the YMCA which he did well into his 80s. As a strong faith-based person, Ted was an active member of St. Martha Catholic Church for many years and continued his faith at St. Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Laverne. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Hamacher Henle, and his children Tony (Becky), Larry (Bonnie), Dan (Jean), Michelle (Jay) Jacobsen, Rusty (Claude), Sally (Tony) Murr. He was Grandatts to Cassie, Mollie, Mallorie, Luke, Drake, Jake, Ryan, Jared, Lily and Noah and Great Granddatts to Hailey, Connor and Eli. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Monday, October 23 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road on Sunday, October 22 from 2 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, Ted requested that memorial donations be made to Bellarmine University.
