Obituary for Mary Beth Krebs

Mary Beth Krebs
KREBS,
Mary Beth, 68, of Louisville, died peacefully at her home on September 19, 2017, after a long struggle with brain cancer.
Born in Louisville to the late Tony and Della (Meena) Vuturo, she was a graduate of Assumption High School (Class of ’67) and Ursuline Bellarmine College. Mary Beth retired from JCPS as a speech therapist, having started her career at the Cerebral Palsy School. She continued to treat infants and toddlers with swallowing disorders through the First Steps Program. She drove long miles to be with the most severe cases and many parents will remember and appreciate her loving care. She was a fearless world traveler and an excellent cook, having learned from her mother the secrets of Italian and Lebanese cuisine. Many friends longed to be invited to her dinner table. Mary Beth was a long-time and active parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir, was Director of Hospitality, and remained a ready volunteer for numerous activities.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenny Krebs; four daughters, Bernadette Sadlo (Jim), Kate Shanks (Greg), Julia Patterson (Alan), and Susannah Krebs; mother-in-law, Bernadette Krebs; brothers, Tony F. Vuturo, MD (Joan) and Richard M. Vuturo (Martha); grandchildren, Eli, Christina, Tyler, Andrew Henry, Brendan, Brooke, and Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Her memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Holy Spirit, 3345 Lexington Rd. Her memorial visitation will be from 1-8 pm Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Mom for the past 22 months, especially Doctors Cole, McMahan, and Webb.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Cure Starts Now (for pediatric brain cancer research) at thecurestartsnow.org or Sproutlings Pediatric Dayschool and Preschool (part of the Masonic Homes of Louisville).
