Dr. Kenneth A.  Hafendorfer
HAFENDORFER,
Dr. Kenneth Allan, 78, died on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Baptist Health of Louisville.
Born and raised in Louisville, he graduated from Saint Francis of Assisi Grade School, Saint Xavier High School, the University of Louisville, and the University of Louisville Medical School. Dr. Kenneth interned at Saint Joseph Hospital in Louisville and served the Medical Corps of the United States Army. He practiced Family Medicine from 1967 until his passing. He had a great interest in history, especially the Civil War in Kentucky and was a member of the Louisville Civil War Round Table. Dr. Kenneth wrote 9 books in his lifetime, with his most recent accomplishment being a 2 volume book titled The Kentucky Campaign of 1862 and The Battle of Perryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cryil “Jake” and Catherine Hafendorfer; and brother, Captain Charles Thomas Hafendorfer, USAF.
Dr. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, the former Nancy Byrne; children, Robert Allan Hafendorfer, James Thomas Hafendorfer (Leanne), Karen Louise McDonald (Tim), and Jennifer Byrne Hafendorfer (Dave Kuebler); grandchildren, Katherine and David Hafendorfer, Katie and Michael McDonald, and one grandson on the way; brother, Dr. Daniel Hafendorfer (Patty); and sister-in-law, Claudia Hafendorfer.
His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1960 Bardstown Rd. with a private burial to follow. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
