Louis Gerald Thurman, 84, of Louisville passed away July, 13th at St. Matthews Care Center. He was a retired foreman at General Electric. Having served in the U.S. Navy he was formerly enrolled in the U.S. Naval Prepatory School and served at naval bases Pearl Harbor and Kwajalein.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis Thurman and Mary Evelyn Thurman Hieb; and two sisters, Joyce Goodfriend, and Lois Holzheimer.
He is survived by four children, Michael Randolph (Penny), Mary (Bert Ribeiro), David William (Tisha), and Douglas Gerald Thurman; four grandchildren, Michael Paul, Sarah, David Xavier (R.J.), Mary Margaret Flynn (Zach); two great grandchildren, Wyatt William Flynn, and Gage Ryan Ferrell.
His celebration of life will be held Monday, July 17th at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of The Assumption, 443 South 5th St.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, July 16th from 4 – 8 PM at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
