Obituary for Nancy Jean Welch

Welch, Nancy Jean (Kennedy),

Nancy, 84, of Louisville, passed away at her home Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Born Feb 7, 1933, to the late Raymond and Anna May (Gaffney) Kennedy. She graduated from St. Thomas More grade school, Presentation Academy High School, and Nazareth School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse with the American Red Cross and a member of Mother of Good Counsel and St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the Trinity “Momma Rocks”, an avid Louisville Cardinal fan and a very proud mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, who will be dearly missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph Anthony Welch, Sr.; daughter, Jean Ellen Welch and brothers, Raymond and Joseph Kennedy.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Anne Lueken (Pat) and Kathy Koenig; son, Joseph Anthony Welch, Jr. (Ruth); 9 grandchildren, Laura Bradley (Bill), Kari Purvis (Mike), Ryan Long, Brent Lueken, Kyle Lueken, Jonathon Long, Megan Brown (Michael), Morgan Welch, and Bradley Koenig; 4 great-grandchildren, Connor McManus, Morgan Bradley, Taylor McManus and Kennedy Bradley and brothers, Tom (Janet), Jim (Barbara) Kennedy; three step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Prospect, KY with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. -8:00 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Red Cross.
