Obituary for James B. ""Jim"" Lenihan

James B. ""Jim"" Lenihan
Lenihan, James B. "Jim",

92, passed away minutes before the running of the 143rd KY Derby, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was a horse owner and horse lover who enjoyed life to the fullest. He always had a positive attitude and a good story to tell.

Jim was a WWII Navy Veteran and he enjoyed many reunions with his Navy brothers, who served with him on the USS Isherwood. He was an attorney and partner at Hargadon, Lenihan & Harrington, where he practiced personal injury law and was a voice for countless people who he saw as less fortunate than he. He often spoke about what a lucky man he was. He had many professional associations and memberships throughout his lengthy career. Highlights include being president of the KY Academy of Trial Attorneys in the 70's, being part of the KY Bar Association in a variety of capacities for decades, and being the legal counsel for the Paisley Party Crew.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pat Lockard Lenihan.

Jim is survived by his sons, James B. "Jimmie" Lenihan (who also acted as his caregiver for many years) and Stuart M. Lenihan; grandchildren, Brittany Lenihan and Michael Lenihan and friend, family member and caregiver Charlotta "Charlie" Smith

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery next to his wife. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
