Obituary for Matthew E. Howard

Matthew E. Howard
Matt Howard, 52, passed away Saturday, March 25th. He was the beloved son of Elmer Ray and Rita Howard.
Matt attended Waggener High School and the University of Louisville. Matt developed Diabetes at age 11, but still was able to play baseball at St. Matthews Little League and Babe Ruth for 6 years, and basketball and baseball thru high school. As an adult, he loved the horses. He would put on his pork tie hat and go to Churchill Downs any time he could.
Matt worked the last 30 years at Hikes Point Lounge. His friend Leonard Meyer hired him when Matt was still trying to recover from a severe auto accident. He loved the lounge and everyone there, especially Leonard, who tried to take care of him there as much as his family did at home. We thank all his friends there for the friendship they showed him.
Matt is survived by a very close family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Alice Howard-Neff (Stuart Neff); three brothers, Martin, Ronald and Scott Howard (Chris Conliffe); niece and nephew Abigail and Franklin Neff, aunt Rebecca Hannon, and uncle Harold J. Howard.
Matt was loved and will be dearly missed by many.
Visitation for Matt will be held Wednesday, March 29th, from 3-7pm. and Thursday, March 30th at 11 am until time of service at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville Rd. in Louisville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 30th , at noon at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Melbourne Heights Baptist Church located at 3728 Taylorsville Rd. in Louisville.
