Condolences

Condolence From: Kathy Combs
Condolence: I have just come to know about Dr. Hodge's passing. Regardless of the time passed since he was laid to rest, I feel compelled to still pay tribute here. Dr. Hodge was my physician all through my childhood and into my young adulthood until he retired. To this day, so many years later, no doctor I've seen since meets the standard of care Dr. Hodge set in my eyes. He was truly the best. He took so much time with us patients, was so thorough, his bedside manner was unmatched. I knew the story of his life and he knew mine, because he took extra time and care to get to know us, and yes even sing to us. He always entered the room singing. I distinctly remember a few of the songs he sang. And who could forget his sky blue eyes and handsome smile. Later in life, while I was a hostess at the New Orleans House restaurant, I had the pleasure of seating Dr. Hodge and his wife on their night out for dinner. After saying hi, he introduced his beautiful wife Yvonne and I remember thinking how lovely she was and what a beautiful pair they were and what a gentleman he was with her, and I was so glad to see that his lady seemed to be just as special as he was. I saw Dr. Hodge many times as a child with chronic kidney infections and he eventually sent me to see a specialist who surgically corrected the problem. The help I remember the most fondly though was when he called me at home to tell me that he had pulled out some old medical books to look further into something he was concerned about for me, and that just amazed me that he would take that much time and care to seek out additional information just to help me. That's the kind of man and doctor Dr. Hodge was. He would always go that extra mile to get it right and do the best he could for you and your health. He truly cared about his patients. I don't believe I'll ever have as good of a doctor as Dr. Hodge with all the things that his care encompassed. Thank you Dr. Hodge for all that you gave to others, I am full of graditude for having known you and been cared for by you, you were very special and are truly missed. May you always rest in peace. To his wife and family, I offer my deepest condolences...what a great man you had in him.

Condolence: Dear Yvonne & family, I didn't see Ken's obituary until Sunday March 25. I am so sorry as I would so have loved to come to the visitation. This is my second attempt to write via this venue. I think I just had too much to say. My phone # is 812/944-9785; I'd love to chat with you when you are able; otherwise, please know how we loved and respected both of you so many years ago.

Condolence: So sorry for your loss. He was my doctor when I had scarlet fever in the second grade and took great care of me. He also would give me my physical to play sports each year during high school. He would take time to talk about my sport and when he was in high school. A kind and gentlemen. God bless.

Condolence: Dear Yvonne and family

Blessings and hugs in your time of grief. We heard so many stories from you Yvonne about Ken. I remember he picked me up from the airport one time for our meeting and drove us to see the site of the Kentucky Derby. I think we were driving in places we weren't supposed to, but that didn't seem to stop him.

Yvonne, a big hug and prayers for peace.
