Carolyn Ann (Jacke),
83, passed away at home after a long illness. Carolyn was born in Louisville and lived her whole life here. She graduated from DuPont Manual High School and Norton's School of Nursing. She got her BSN from Spaulding's. During her more than 50 years in nursing, she opened Suburban Hospital and worked at Baptist East and Tri-County in LaGrange. She ended her career at Hospice of Louisville and it was fitting that they helped her come full circle. Carolyn was married to Robert S. Gross for 42 years. She was a long time member of Southeast Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Karl Jacke as well as her sister, Barbara Garrett.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby; her children Michael Carter (Denise), Jacke Carter, and Janice Wells (Lloyd); and her precious grandchildren, Michael Paul and Chrissy Carter, Jennifer Lyn Carter, Lloyd, Jr., and Carter Faye Wells. Carolyn is also survived by her loving sister, Shirley Schultz; her children, Jeffery Schultz and Paula Schreiber (Schultz) and; their 5 children, (nieces and nephews).
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday January 28, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with entombment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands.
