Obituary for Kitty Lou Conklin

Kitty Lou Conklin
Conklin, Kitty Lou, 89, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2017.
An athlete her entire life, Kitty starred in the first Jefferson County Softball League, formed in 1940, but her greatest accomplishments were in tournament golf. She won the 1975 Jefferson County Championship, the 1983 Kentucky Senior Women’s Championship, and club championships at Seneca Golf Course, Wildwood Country Club, Charlie Vettiner Golf Course, and Shawnee Golf Course. Kitty shot her age, 80, one of the most difficult feats in golf, in a tournament at Shawnee Golf Course. In 1994, she was named the Senior Sportswoman of the Year by Search for the Stars. She was fondly referred to as “Mother Golf” by many of her fellow golfers, all of whom will miss her generosity and kindness.
Kitty is survived by her son, Gary; daughters, Lynn Kaiser (Bob) and Janet; granddaughters, Amy Terkhorn (Pete) and Lauren Ghrist (Brandon); and great-grandsons, Braylon and Ashton Terkhorn and Clark Ghrist.
The family would like to thank Donna Smith for the care and compassion she showed to Kitty while being her caregiver and friend.
Per Kitty’s wishes, cremation was chosen. Private burial will be at a later date. Highlands Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
