Raterman, Jerome Tynan
Jerry, “J.T.”, “Gramps,” 84 years old, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky on December 28, 2016. He was born on November 20, 1932 in Sydney, Ohio.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome A. and Mary Ellen Raterman; and sister, Ann Hemmert.
Jerry is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Irene of 11 years; his 3 sons, Jerome R. (wife, Kerryanne) of Sydney, Australia, Stephen J. (wife, Helen) of Tampa, Florida, and Daniel P. (wife, Carmen) of Tampa, Florida. Jerry is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Laura, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, Courtney, Michael Jerome (wife, Kelly), Natalie, Sophia, and Ava; and 2 great grandsons, Memphis Jerome and Reynar Jensen; two sisters, Jane Orr and Mary Ellen Rowe; and numerous nieces and nephews survive him.
Jerry received his Bachelors Degree in Business from Purdue University, and his MBA from Xavier University.
He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and was stationed in Germany.
He was employed by the Formica Corporation in Ohio, and took his knowledge of building materials and entrepreneurial spirit to start Fab-Co in Louisville until his retirement.
He enjoyed the Louisville lifestyle, especially boating and fishing, as well as watching football and hearing stories about his grandchildren. His family and friends will remember him for his big heart, great smile, and huge laugh, traits that he has passed on even to his great grandsons.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 3, from 1-7 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 4 at 10 am at St John Paul II Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky, followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Ln.
His family wishes to thank all of his Doctors, nurses and therapists over the past few months.
