Obituary for Phyllis (Quino) Krebs

Phyllis (Quino), of Louisville, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Episcopal Church Home.
Born in Louisville on October 20, 1918 to the late Aloysius and Ann Quino, she was a graduate of Louisville Girls High School. Phyllis was a charter member of the Louisville Orchestra, where she was a first violinist. She performed on stages around the world, including Carnegie Hall, recorded countless first edition recordings, and was featured in the film Music Makes A City. After retiring, she performed with the Jewish Community Center Orchestra, the Daytona Beach (FL) Community College Orchestra, and the Volusia County (FL) Symphony. She was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 11-637. Phyllis was an avid golfer and was a member of the old River Road Country Club and Spruce Creek Country Club in Port Orange, FL. She was a Catholic by faith and attended several local churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Krebs, who co-owned Southern Optical; and two sisters, Jane and Martha.
She is survived by her children, Charles D. Krebs (Janice), Jacqueline K. Eovino (Frank), Bryan A. Krebs (Joan), and Julianne K. Lukens (Dan); sister, Patricia Q. Race; grandchildren, Ryan, Courtney, Michelle, Andrew, Whitney, Nicole, Paul, Abby, Juliana, and Sam; and four great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Highlands.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, including Dr. Jane Cornett at the Episcopal Church Home for their loving care.
