Allen, David James, 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was a 1978 graduate of St. Xavier High School, where he was a proud member of the 1975 state championship football team. He was a lifelong University of Louisville Cardinals fan and was a successful self-employed business owner in the packaging industry. David loved his wife, three daughters and family unconditionally. His loving and supportive family will miss him very much.

David is survived by his loving wife of almost 32 years, Pamela Holtz Allen; daughters, Sara Michelle Allen, Angela Elizabeth Allen, Mary Louise Allen; parents, Jack and Marilyn Allen; brothers, John (Susan), Mark (Cindy), and Chris (Susan); sisters, Mary Lynn Finnegan (Bill), Kathryn Clark (Mike) and Ann Allen Jones; nieces and nephews, Sean, Colleen, Michael, Jamie, Brian, Krysta, Christopher, Brad, Blair, Allen Michael, John, Patrick, Emily, Tara, Morgan, Ashton and Max; and many cousins, family, and friends.


David’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S. 6th Street. Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Private burial will be at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Heine and all who lovingly cared for David at Baptist East Palliative Care Unit, specifically Lindsey, Andrea, Ruby, Robin and Dr. Masden, and requests memorial donations be made there.
