Obituary for John T. Miller

Miller,
John T., 87, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Jefferson Place.
Mr. Miller received his Law degree from the University of Louisville in 1953 after attending St. Francis of Assisi Grade School and St. Xavier High School. He retired after over fifty years of law practice and was designated distinguished Senior Counselor by the American, Kentucky and Louisville Bar Associations.
He served three years in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was discharged with the rank of Captain. He served as Regional Counsel for the Small Business Administration after which he entered general law practice. He was a founding member of both the American and Kentucky Academy of Hospital Attorneys. He served as Counsel and on the Board of Trustees of St. Anthony Hospital for over thirty years.
He was a founding member of Hurstbourne Country Club and served on various committees and several terms on its Board of Directors. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, and hunting with his children, grandchildren and friends.
John T. was a gregarious gentleman who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his four children, Laurie Ware (Steve), Patrick Miller (Terri), Sallie McElrath (Hugh) and Katie Leverette (Scott); their mother, Barbara A. Miller; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with a private burial at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Highlands.
