Obituary for Frederick Neuner

Frederick Neuner
NEUNER,
Frederick “Fred” L., 84, passed away Sunday October 30.
Fred was born April 15, 1932 to his parents, Lillian Cain and Ernest Neuner. He attended St. Cecilia and St. Anthony Grade Schools and Flaget High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army when he was 18 and served as Corporal in active combat in the Korean War. He married Helen Nichols on December 16, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 37 years, Helen Nichols; and his brothers, Ernest (Junior) and Clarence (Buddy.)
To cherish his memory, Fred is survived by his wife of 19 years, Martha Harlamert Neuner; daughters, Charlotte Sego (Jerry), Sherri Sauer (Mike); son, John (Dee), brother; Raymond; sister, Darlene Clausen; stepdaughters, Charlene (John) Williams, Connie (Rick) Rogers, and Jackye Zimmerman.
He has six grandchildren on the Neuner side of the family tree including: Kip (Kim) Sego, Jennifer (Matt) Jorgenson, Sarah Sauer, Aaron Sauer, Heather Jacobs (Jamie), and Nicole Neuner.
There are nine grandchildren on the Harlamert side of the family tree including: Michelle (Tim) Wyatt, Michael Zimmerman, Dustin (Charlotte) Rogers, Brandon (Andrea) Rogers, Chelsea (Taylor) Uhde, Angela Schindler, Beth (Kym) Williams, Renee (Megan) Williams, and Andrew (Lehanna) Williams.
He had a total of 25 great grandchildren that he adored. He will be sorely missed by his lifelong friend of 77 years, J.T. Bradshaw.
His career began at Dages Paint Company and he subsequently made his living as a self-employed painter who was proud that customer referrals were his only form of advertising. He enjoyed painting until the last few months of his life. Painting wasn’t his job, it was his calling. Many say he was an artist. His favorite expression was, “A’s and E’s”.
Fred was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4665, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 5, Elks Lodge 8, and American Legion Post 0201. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Fred loved dancing and partying with his friends. He is fondly remembered for his humor and quick wit. He loved travelling even if it was just getting in the car and taking a long drive to nowhere. Echoes of “Where are we going today?” are wonderful memories. Fred also had a great appreciation of all makes of cars, model, size, or color.
Visitiation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. A memorial prayer service celebrating his life will follow Thursday, November 3, at 10 a.m. with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205-3224, or Mass of the Air, 508 Breckinridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
