Obituary for Joanne Golden

Joanne Golden
Golden, Joanne Buk (60) died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a nearly 18 month courageous battle with cancer. She was a Speech Therapist for 36 years, all of which were spent at Jefferson County’s Churchill Park School, where she dedicated her career to working with only special needs students. She was Catholic through and through, attending St. Agnes grade school, Sacred Heart Academy, Bellarmine College for a Bachelors in Speech, and Spalding College for a Masters in Counseling/ Psychology.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lucina Buk, and is survived by her husband of 35 years Deacon Tim Golden and their children, Katie Roberts (Josh) and Kevin of Washington D.C.; also a sister Mary Jane Olsen (Gary) and a large family of cousins, nieces and nephews. She was particularly proud to be a Deacon’s wife after four years of Formation with her husband and all the classmates from the class of 2012. We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at University of Louisville Hospital (5 South Wing) and CBC Group at Baptist Health.
Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home (3331 Taylorsville Road) on Wednesday, November 2nd from 12pm – 8pm. A celebration mass of her life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (510 Breckenridge Lane) on Thursday, November 3rd at 10am.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, Mass on the Air or the American Cancer Society.
