Sam Freeman Nicks  Foster
FOSTER, Sam Freeman Nicks,

75, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Born April 7, 1941 in Roxboro, NC to Samuel Freeman Nicks and Mary Cathryn Woodward she was a retired Psychotherapist at Ten Broeck Hospital and United Behavioral Services. She was a member of St. Paul UMC for 34 years. Sam received her B.S. in Education from Duke University in 1963 and her MSSW from the University of Louisville in 1987. She was an active volunteer with Kentucky Refuge Ministries and many organizations through St. Paul UMC. She was a committed NY Times crossword puzzles solver and an avid Duke fan!

Sam is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Dr. Price Foster; children, Kimberley Evans (Wayne), Jamie Foster (Elisabeth), and Susan Squires (Ben); grandchildren, Charles, Mary Cathryn, and Elaine Evans, Noah and Emilia Foster, and Sam, Jude, and Owen Squires; and sisters, Sylvia Nicks and Carolyn Ferrara (Jeff).

Sam was a loving wife, mother, nana, and sister.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at church.

Memorial donations of sympathy may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
