Obituary for Sue Mitchell Johnson

Sue Mitchell Johnson
Sue Mitchell Johnson peacefully passed into her Lord’s arms on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Born in Princeton, Kentucky on September 6, 1923, and raised in Crofton, Kentucky, she was the youngest of Daniel and Anna Mitchell’s six children.
In 1945, Sue married Morris Johnson (also from Crofton) and they moved to Louisville where he started a 40-year career with Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance. Sue served her family well as a loving homemaker, and the community as a volunteer for various charities. She was a member of Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church. Sue was known for her quick wit and feisty spirit. She was an athlete and avid competitive golfer, playing regularly into her late 80s. She particularly enjoyed international and domestic travel with her husband and golf excursions with her friends.
Sue’s parents, siblings and husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, John Johnson (Christine); grandson, Drew Johnson; and the spark of countless smiles – her great grandson, Asher, all from Louisville.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care that Sue received while a resident at Parr’s at Springhurst. Special thanks to Erica, Bill, Shelby and Doris, and extra gratitude to Cheryl who gave boundless love and kindness.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Highlands.
In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate donations to Sue’s favorite causes, WHAS Crusade for Children and Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church.
