Joseph A.   Yurt
YURT, Joseph A, 87, of Louisville, passed into Eternal Life on May 15, 2016, at Episcopal Church Home.

Born in Louisville, Joe was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and Xavier University. He worked as a design engineer for Kentucky Manufacturing and, later, after losing his sight, he worked as a computer programmer for the Kentucky Highway Department. Prior to becoming blind, Joe volunteered as a Scoutmaster for 10 years at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Even after becoming blind, Joe continued to enjoy carpentry home remodeling as a hobby. He was an involved father, a loving husband, and an inspiration to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Bertha Ferg Yurt.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jenelda (Sanders) Yurt, his daughter, Jennifer Pearson (Brian), his sister, Mary Agnes Kenney, and grandchildren, Claire and Ian Pearson.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at The Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive, Louisville, KY 40220 with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jane Cornett and the staff at the Episcopal Church Home for their loving care over the last few months.
