VAUGHN, Elvera Hazel, 87, of Louisville passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Masonic Home.

Born in Louisville, the former Elvera Schlatter was a loving wife and mother. She was a homemaker and a member of Summit Heights United Methodist Church, and her heart belonged to St. John United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Vaughn; brother, Henry J. Schlatter; sister, Margaret Franconia; and son-in-law, Ken Unterbrink.

Elvera is survived by sons, William Lawrence Vaughn (Elizabeth), Christopher Douglas Vaughn, and Chester Dalton Vaughn Jr. (Ginny); daughters, Janet Franklyn (William), Patricia Ann Unterbrink, and Terrie Lynn Vaughn (Mike); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. John United Church of Christ, 637 E. Market St., with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
