Obituary for Marian Patricia Voor

Marian Patricia Voor
VOOR,
Marian Patricia, of Louisville, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Norton Audubon.
Born in Louisville, she was the former Marian Patricia Munro, a retired teacher for the Archdiocese of Louisville Schools, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Eucharistic minister. She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and Ursuline College, earning a Rank I Master’s Degree in Education from Bellarmine University. She started her 40 year teaching career at St. Leo the Great, followed by St. Francis of Assisi, Holy Family, St. Raphael, Most Blessed Sacrament and from 1987-2005 at St. Edward Catholic School. After “retiring” she continued to substitute teach and serve as a private tutor for countless students up until this month. She even taught two generations of her many nieces and nephews. Proud of her students and their accomplishments, she was still in contact with many of them. She usually could not go to the store without hearing someone calling out “Hey, Mrs. Voor!” She was fortunate enough to be cared for in the hospital by one of her former fourth grade students. For twenty years she was a coordinator and teacher for the SHINE Program for gifted students, and other educational programs. She was recipient of many teaching awards, grants, and certificates. She had a passion for history, especially Kentucky history. She was a big supporter of the Louisville Free Public Library. Pat loved newspapers especially the obits and the comics, even being featured in a comic by Nick Anderson…and now this.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Voor; her parents, William and Ellen Munro and brother, William J. Munro, Jr.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Renee M. Healy (Eric); son, Keeley H. Voor; many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, including Julie Munro as well as nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3 at St. James Catholic Church, 1826 Edenside Dr. with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or St. Edward School, Attention: tutoring assistance.
