Obituary for Steven "Coach" Youngblood

Youngblood, Oury Steven, "Coach", 68, passed away on May 17, 2012.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but moved to Louisville in 1957. He was a graduate of Waggener High School and the University of Louisville and afterward, served honorably in the United States Marines. Following a long term career as an area sales manager for Continental Insurance, he enjoyed his final years working with teens at Bellewood Children's Home and Jefferson County High School. Aside from his family, his real passion was coaching youth baseball. He coached at St. Matthew's Little League & Babe Ruth from 1968 until 1990 and then coached high school baseball from 2004-2009 at Male, North Oldham and Atherton, influencing the lives of many boys and young men. There was nothing he enjoyed more than watching his grandchildren play baseball.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oury Harris Youngblood and his infant son, Aaron Lucas Youngblood.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Lucas Youngblood; sons, Brent (Cindy) and Bradley (Bridgett); daughter, Mindy Yale; brother, Gregory Lee Youngblood; grandchildren Jordan, Ethan, Trent, Jose and Jenna.
Visitation will be 2-6 pm on Sunday at Highland Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd and 9-10 am on Monday at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Rd. Funeral service will be at 10 am on Monday at Christ Church United Methodist, with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd, Louisville, KY.
Memorial gifts may be made to Kosair Children's Hospital.
