Obituary for Helen Rose Vertrees

VERTREES, HELEN ROSE DYCHE, 79, formerly of Louisville and London, KY, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at JoAnne's House of Hope Hospice, in Bonita Springs, FL.
She was a graduate of London High School, and received a Diploma from the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps, she served in the Kentucky Air National Guard at Bowman Field from 1956 to 1958. In 1980, she earned the Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bellarmine College, then completed the Master of Science from University of Louisville in 1986. After 42 years of service, she retired from nursing in 1996.
Mrs. Vertrees is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil B. Vertrees Jr.; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. R.W. Dyche Sr.; and siblings, Mina Daniels, Dorothy Thompson, R. W. Dyche Jr., Emma Elizabeth Knight, John William Dyche, Harold Fish Dyche and Mary Louise Dyche.
She is survived by her sons, William V. Montgomery III, Virgil B. Vertrees III (Sandra), Brian A. Vertrees (Denise), David Bailey and Robert D. Vertrees (Jen); her daughters, Cynthia Williamson (Richard), Elizabeth Textor (Ted), Ann Montgomery and Holly Montgomery; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends can celebrate her life with a service 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
